Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Ingredients
Cut the chicken into 1-inch pieces and season with salt and pepper. Slice the mushrooms into thin strips. Mince the garlic.
Step 2: Sear the Chicken and Mushrooms
Heat a large cast iron skillet over medium-high heat. Add the chicken and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside. Reduce heat to medium and add the sliced mushrooms. Cook until they release their liquid and start to brown, about 5 minutes.
Step 3: Make the Creamy Sauce
Add the minced garlic to the skillet and cook for 1 minute, until fragrant. Pour in the heavy cream and bring the mixture to a simmer. Let cook for 2-3 minutes, until the sauce has thickened slightly. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Step 4: Assemble and Bake the Casserole
Add the cooked chicken back into the skillet and stir to coat with the creamy sauce. Transfer the mixture to a 9x13 inch baking dish. Top with additional sliced mushrooms and a sprinkle of grated cheese (optional). Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 15-20 minutes, until the casserole is hot and the top is golden brown.
Step 5: Finish and Serve
Remove the casserole from the oven and let it rest for 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh herbs, such as parsley or thyme, and serve hot.
Step 6: Plate and Photograph
Place the casserole on a warm plate and garnish with a sprinkle of paprika and a few fresh herbs. The plate should be set against a warm, golden background, with a few slices of crusty bread on the side. The lighting should be soft and natural, with a slight warm glow. The image should be taken from directly above, with the casserole centered and the garnishes scattered artfully around it.
